Middle School is hard. There's boat loads of homework, hard tests, big projects, and all that other schoolwork. So how do you deal with all this Middle School stuff? Here are some tips to help you get through those 3 years of Middle School.
Tip # 1- Be Prepared
I think this is the first most important tip to go through Middle School smoothly. Be prepared for presentations, for test, for everything! There are many websites like quizlet.com that help you to be prepared for test, quizzes, and everything in between. Always have your pencils, pens, and folders/binders with you for your classes. I always have pencils, pens, and paper with me in all of my classes. It's very annoying to me when people ask to borrow my writing utensils so please please please always have pens, pencils, and paper with you!
Tip # 2- Be Confident
Never walk into a classroom thinking that you are going to fail a test or that you are going to do poorly on your homework. Always walk into a class thinking that you will ace the test! Or pass the exam! Or get an A on that project you've been working so hard on! If you walk into a class thinking that you will fail a test, you might not do as well if you had thought you were going to do very well. If you are prepared, it is much easier to be confident.
Tip # 3- Have a study schedule
This is definitely the thing I need to work on most. When you get home have a set schedule so that you can stay organized. My schedule that I try to follow is to first eat a healthy snack. A healthy snack will help keep your brain focused, and of course you can also have something a little sweet with it too. Then I start to work on homework class by class. I work on homework then study each class at a time. During your study time it is good to have a nice, cool glass of water to keep your brain on track. If you are having a hard time staying focused it is a good idea to turn of all electronics and distractions. Having a study schedule will help you to be more prepared which will be easier to be confident.
Tip # 4- Have a study/homework desk
Having a study desk will help you to be more organized. You should stock you study desk with pencils, pens, and paper. You could also stock the desk with highlighters or anything you think would be necessary for your own study desk. You can find all the supplies at your local office supply store. Having a study desk will help you to follow your study schedule then will help you to be better prepared which will make it easier for you to be confident.
Here is a picture of one of my cups I put pens and pencils in on my study desk. I got this at Hobby Lobby for $2.99 |
Tip # 5- Have fun
Doing homework and having to study for tests aren't the most fun things to do. Just remember that you should take breaks and do what you want to, whether you would want to hang with friends, read a book, or even watch tv. Just do anything that will help you to just relax and take your mind off of all the homework and studying. If you have fun it will make it easier to be more confident which will help you to have a study desk and study time then you can definetly be more prepared.
If you follow these 5 simple steps, you will be able to survive Middle School, have fun, and get good grades! You can write little phrases on your hand to remind you to follow these 5 simple steps. They could say "be happy" or "be positive" or even "try your best." Anything that you think will help you to remember these 5 simple steps!
